Volunteer Job Descriptions

  • Our online volunteer registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis until Sept 11th at midnight
  • You can only choose ONE crew, so pick your favourite, because duplicate registrations will be cancelled
  • Read through the duties and requirements of the crew carefully to ensure you can meet all expectations. You can read the full job description by clicking on the title of the Crew

Requirements for ALL our volunteers:

  • meet the shift minimum for your crew (in most cases, this is 3 shifts)
  • comply with our Volunteer Code of Conduct & Harassment Policy
  • have a positive approach to customer service
  • desire to contribute to, and be part of the festival
  • thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • treat patrons, performers and other volunteers with professionalism & courtesy

Youth-Specific Requirements:

  • must be 14 years of age or older by September 13, 2017
  • must bring your completed Parental Permission Form  to Volunteer Check-In on your first shift
  • youth volunteers are accepted in the following areas: 50/50 Raffle, Bike Park, Envirodish, Festival Kitchen, Festival Ambassadors (Info Booth), Floaters, General Store, Green Team, KidZone, Volunteer Check-In and Welcome Centre

Group Volunteer Opportunities
We have group volunteer opportunities available for Sports Teams, Student Groups, Clubs and Workplaces.  If you are interested please email us volunteers@cityfolkfestival.com

Do you think anyone can get by with a little help from their friends? Are you passionate about providing the same great festival experience to everyone, regardless of disability or limitation? If so, consider working with the Accessibility team to assist those in need of a little extra help.

Artisans & Crafters

Are you passionate about local, creative, handmade and upcycled artisanal goods? Do you want to help our local entrepreneurs spread their message? If you’re 18 years of age or older, join the Artisans & Crafters team where you’ll be setting up and assisting these great vendors.

Beer Tents

Do you want to help quench the thirst of our festival patrons? If you’re 18 years of age or older and are full of energy, then join the Beer Sales team and help us sling suds, wine, and coolers and keep everyone hydrated and having fun!

Bike Park

Do you believe two wheels are better than four? Do you enjoy working in the great outdoors? If so, the Bike Park team wants your enthusiasm and your organizational skills to help us work with the Pathway Patrol organization to run our free bike parking service.

Cash & ID

Money, it’s a gas! And we need you to take it, count it, change it, and check IDs. If this sounds like your (money) bag and you’re 18 years of age or older, join the Cash & ID team.

Casino Lac-Leamy Suites

Do you have exceptional customer service skills and would like to be part of our premium festival experience? If you’re 18 years of age of older, join the Casino Lac-Leamy Suites team and serve as an ambassador to the CityFolk experience to provide a memorable experience for our VIP guests in the heart of the festival.

Envirodish

Do you love the environment? Do you want to work on the frontlines of one of our festival’s biggest green initiatives? If so, join our Envirodish team where you’ll be washing and drying your way to saving over 15,000 plates and over 34,000 forks, knives, and spoons from the landfill!

Are you a whiz in the kitchen? Do your culinary skills go above and beyond toast and Kraft Dinner? If so, join our Festival Kitchen team where you’ll be preparing and serving delicious meals for hundreds of hungry volunteers and performers. Yes chef!

Are you a jack-of-all trades, wearer-of-many-hats, or just enjoy trying your hand at different roles? If so, consider working with the team of Floaters where you’ll get to work all over the festival, pitching in wherever help is needed. This is also a great opportunity for new volunteers to try out a bunch of different areas and find where you fit best.

Gates

General Store

As the Beatles say, money can’t buy you love. It can however, get you some awesome swag. If you love band merch and tie dye, work in our General Store where you can bring your passion to the fans and sell this year’s amazing crop of CityFolk and Artist merchandise.

Green Team

Are you passionate about the environment? Does saving the planet warm your heart and fill your soul? If so, join our energetic Green Team and assist with CityFolk’s greening initiatives to keep the festival clean and the people breathing easy.

I.T. Team

When something goes wrong, and they don’t have a clue, are you the genius that shows others what to do? We are looking for all those that are living in a digital world to help out those in an analog world! Volunteers have the opportunity to see and work with the technology that provides the I.T. backbone to the festival.

Kidzone

Do you think rock stars (or folk stars!) are regular people too? Do you want to help make sure our performers have everything they need to put on an unforgettable show? If you’re 18 years of age or older, join our Performer Hospitality team where you’ll be providing general information to and looking after requests from our prized performers.

Performer Transportation

Do you find yourself daydreaming how you just can’t wait to get on the road again?  Well, that dream is not too far away when you’re helping to pick-up and drop-off artists at CityFolk.  This team is open to volunteers age 25 and older.  *Currently this team is full for our 2016 festival.

Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone? That’s why the Photography Team is looking for enthusiastic people to create an enduring catalog of the volunteer experience at CityFolk that will live on beyond the festival. If you have a real passion for picture taking, join the team and help share the CityFolk experience!  

Production

Did you grow up building Lego, following those novel-length instruction manuals down to the last plastic flag and palm tree? If you’re 18 years of age or older and own a sturdy pair of steel-toed boots, join our Production team where you’ll be supporting the effective movement, placement and set up of stage/sound equipment on several festival stages.

Signage

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. At least that’s our hope if you join our Signage team, where you’ll be working mostly pre- and post-festival to put up and take down signage throughout the event site.

Silent Auction

Do you have a real passion for fundraising and helping support a great cause? If you’re 18 years of age or older, join the Silent Auction team where you’ll get to help set up the auction displays, drum up bidders, and help with the bidding, all while raising money for our music education initiatives, such as Blues in the Schools and Be in the Band

Are you awesome at parties? Making sure the decorations are up before everyone arrives, that the food and drinks are well-stocked, and that you don’t run out of ice? If you’re 18 years of age or older, join our Site Services team where you’ll be helping both the site construction and inventory sides of festival operations.
